Age in Politics
Politics is dirty they say, but it is the backbone of any
democracy. And age is very crucial when it comes to politics.
People say age is just a number, but in politics, age is eligibility also. To take the authority of different positions in politics it is very
important to qualify the age. For example to become an MP in Rajya sabha one
must be 30 years old. And to become the prime minister of India one must be 35
years old. These barriers may seem to be opposed by some people it but the
truth is it is very essential to ensure a particular politician is above
eligibility age. One of the main reasons for this is because age brings
maturity, to most of the people. Politics is something that affects our whole
country and a political candidate is having enormous powers that he can
misuse. The decisions taken by the politicians are very complicate and need a
lot of experience to deal with. There is a lot of deception and diplomacy which
one simply cannot understand but learn as the person matures. This is the main
reason why age is so important in politics. If a person is below the age of
desire, there is a high possibility that he or she may take immature decisions.

On the other hand, one simply cannot put a concrete number on
the age at which people’s brain matures, some people gain their maturity
at an early age and some late, but to ensure a level of scrutiny, these barriers
are imposed to avoid any complications and wrongdoing at the political level.
Those who oppose this idea say that it separates youth from politics and politics needs young minds as well. this goes right as only a young mind can lead a young population. But like everything else, politics is full of compromise.
